Upper Lea Valley Group

Volunteering

this is the alt tag

Much of the Groups activity consists of active manual tasks and keen new volunteers are always required to help with such things as:

  • nature reserve work
    • this includes clearing out streams and woodland management
  • clearing footpaths
  • hedge and tree maintenance
  • building river defences
  • litter clearance

The satisfactory completion of such projects is the only reward!

The Group would welcome more able-bodied volunteers - male and female. As long as you are prepared to roll up your sleeves and work with others, your help would be much appreciated and you'll know that time and energy spent has made a difference to the environment.

WHEN? Work parties are held regularly each month - during the morning of the last Sunday of each month (with the exception of December).

WHERE? Volunteers are asked to meet at the ULVG HQ at 91 Lower Luton Road, Harpenden (map ref: TL 145152 ) - all tasks start from there at 10a.m.

CLOTHING? You will need to wear working gear with strong shoes.

TELEPHONE? If you intend to attend a work party, please TELEPHONE 01582 621017 BEFORE SETTING OFF, just to make sure that there have been no last minute alterations to arrangements.

REFRESHMENTS? You may like to bring water to drink - tea or coffee will be provided.

"SPECIAL WORKPARTIES" Very occasionally, when a bigger task needs to be done, an "all hands to the pump" work party is called. If you would like to be informed about these, please email your details so that you can be contacted in advance of these being held.
